ICCIE Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Big Changes to the ICCIE Curriculum

Eleven years after its launch, the captive industry’s education program, ICCIE, is making changes that increase the value of its benchmark designation, the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI), and is also in the process of adding three new electives, which will increase the total number of ICCIE courses to 17.
Since 2004 the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation has required matriculants to complete five ICCIE core courses, two electives, and three teleconferences. Effective immediately, the core course “Protecting the Captive” (focusing on actuarial science and reinsurance principles), will be divided into two separate courses, and the “Investments and Captives” elective course is becoming a required core course. So new ACI enrollees will complete seven core courses and two electives, along with three teleconferences. Despite the increase in offerings, there will be no rise in the cost of the designation.
The three electives that are in development should all make their initial debuts in the 2015-2016 year. They are Regulation of Captives, Strategy for Captive Insurance Companies, and Advanced Investment and Captives. All three courses, already well in development, will be elective courses, with the investments course covering topics beyond the scope of the core Investments and Captives course.

ACI Scholarships to be Announced at VCIA

ICCIE will again be announcing the winners of two scholarships at the 2015 Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA).  The Distinguished Scholar Award recognizes VCIA’s tremendous financial commitment to ICCIE, and the Harry House Scholarship, made available through the, Housing Authority Insurance Group, offers an ICCIE scholarship to a minority student in an accredited college or university Risk Management Program. The announcement of the scholarship winners will be made at Wednesday’s VCIA General Session.
