ICCIE’s new Certificate in Captive Insurance (CCI)CCI1

The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) today announces the launch of a new educational benchmark for the captive industry:  the Certificate in Captive Insurance (CCI).  The new certificate program accompanies the established Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI), the professional designation of the captive industry.

The creation of the CCI certification comes 11 years into the life of the captive industry’s education program.  In that time the ACI designation has become accepted across domiciles as the standard of educational excellence in the industry.  Just last month ICCIE announced changes to the ACI that make it slightly more robust.  When the ACI was originally launched it required five core courses, two electives, and three hot-topic webinars.  The recent change expanded the requirement to seven core courses, two electives, and three hot-topic webinars.  The price of the designation did not change.

The options for the Certificate in Captive Insurance (CCI) are:

For Captive Owners:  the CCI-O – required:

“An Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms” OR

“Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms”

“Forming and Operating a Captive”

“Captive Board Governance”

“Business Ethics in the Captive Insurance Industry”

For Captive Managers:  the CCI-M – required:

“An Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms” OR

“Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms”

“Forming and Operating a Captive”

“Accounting for Captives – Financial Reporting and Analysis”

“Accounting for Captives – Interpretation and Management Perspectives”

For Risk Management Professionals:  the CCI – required:

“An Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms” OR

“Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms”

“Forming and Operating a Captive”

Two ICCIE-offered core or elective courses

“Captive and risk management professionals have reacted very positively to ICCIE and the ACI designation, but we also felt that it was time to offer a Certificate that would allow professionals to combine a smaller number of courses and, at the same time, give participants an option to choose a specific specialization,” says ICCIE Executive Director Mitch Cantor.

The cost of the CCI is $2,600 – payable upon enrollment.  Those who wish to continue on to complete the ACI will pay an additional $2,300 to complete the additional course requirements for the designation.
