David Roberts

David A. Roberts is an Audit Partner with Crowe, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the states of Connecticut and Vermont, and is approved to audit insurance entities in several domiciles. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.

David has over 18 years of experience.  David has been an Audit Partner in the firm’s Insurance Practice Group since 2007, and is also the firm’s Director of Audit Quality. He has also been very active in the Firm’s marketing efforts and has spoken on several insurance accounting related topics at national and state domicile specific insurance conferences. David is also very active in providing both internal and external training, and has developed and presented several training and educational courses on insurance accounting and auditing related matters.

As an audit partner, David is responsible for several captive insurance, traditional insurance and other alternative risk transfer vehicle insurance clientele. He has extensive experience with auditing insurance entities of all types including traditional insurers, risk retention groups, reciprocal insurers, single parent captives and cell captive vehicles. David has also provided audit and accounting services to several public entity risk pools as well as other risk pool type entities. He has extensive experience in financial reporting matters related to both GAAP and Statutory bases of accounting. As the firm’s Director of Audit quality, David is responsible for coordinating all external peer reviews, carrying out internal quality reviews, day-to-day monitoring of audit quality and internal control systems, audit technical support and implementation and training regarding any new audit standards.

David also serves several of Crowe’s non insurance clientele. He has extensive experience with audits of employee benefit plans, manufacturing entities, insurance agencies, non-profit entities and healthcare entities. David began his accounting career in the investments industry and also has extensive knowledge of broker-dealer entities.
