Peter Daniel O’Leary

Peter is a Canadian Chartered Accountant, having qualified for his designation in 1983. Peter relocated from Vancouver, Canada to Bermuda and attained the position of Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche. His Bermuda experience was entirely devoted to the audit and regulatory requirements of captive insurance companies. In 1988 Peter moved back to his native Canada and was appointed Associate Director of practice inspection with the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants. With his background specifically identified with captive insurance, 1989 took Peter and his family to the Cayman Islands where he spent the first 11 years with Marsh Management Services (Cayman) Ltd. (“Marsh”). As Vice President and Account Executive with Marsh, Peter had responsibility for a portfolio of captive clients with various insurance coverages and program structures. In January 2001 he took a position with Deloitte & Touche as Director of Insurance Services and acted in the capacity of overseeing the audits of the firm’s entire captive client base. As of October 1, 2009 Peter is now operating as an independent consultant.

During his years in Cayman, Peter has presented at a number of Conferences and Seminars in the U.S. including ICAP, FICPA (Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants), and the Cayman Islands Insurance Conference, as well as internal Deloitte U.S. training courses.
