ICCIE core course: Investment Basics for Captives

Carl is Founder and Principal of CapVisor Associates, LLC, an SEC-registered investment advisor, that specializes in providing advisory services consisting of highly customized investment management programs to the alternative risk markets. He brings more than 27 years of insurance asset management experience, over 12 of which have been focused on working with Captives, Self Insurers, RRG’s, etc., to the task of correlating clients’ investment strategy with their business objectives and optimizing their investment programs.

Carl currently serves on the VCIA Finance committee, the SIIA ART Committee and is the Investment Instructor at the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). He also serves on the Board of Director of a NY commercial auto insurer.

Carl was formerly the Director of the Insurance Advisory Group of Principal Global Investors where he was responsible for US statutory insurers, as well as on- and off-shore captives. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President and Marketing Director of the Insurance Asset Management Group of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. His experience also includes expertise developed in various senior executive positions at Bankers Trust Company, Chase Manhattan Bank and Met Life, among others.

As a frequent speaker at insurance-related events, Carl is also regularly sought out to provide editorial contributions to leading insurance industry focused publications such as Business Insurance, Reactions, Insurance Asset Manager, US Insurer, The Self-Insurer, Captive.com, Captive Insurance Company Reports (CICR), etc. Carl received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from Rutgers University.
