Melissa Hancock

ICCIE elective: Accounting for Captives: Financial Reporting and Analysis and ICCIE elective: Accounting for Captives: Interpretation and Management Perspectives

Melissa is the Regional Manager of Strategic Risk Solutions mid-Atlantic region for captive management. She is responsible for overseeing the development and ongoing management of SRS’s Washington DC and Delaware-domiciled captives and RRGs, as well as responsibilities for several Vermont captive companies. Melissa has extensive experience with a wide variety of captive companies, including single parent, association, group, special purpose and industrial insured formations.

Most recently, Melissa was the Vermont operations manager for one of the largest independent captive management firms in the world, where she was the approved Vermont manager. She responsible for all aspects of hands-on captive management services, and the training and oversight of the staff. Melissa has held several directorship and officer positions for client captive companies. Melissa has extensive practical and theoretical experience with preparing and filing NAIC statements.

Melissa is a licensed CPA in the State of Vermont. She is an ACI and has attained the Associates in Risk Management (ARM) designation. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont Association of Certified Public Accounts, serving in the past as a member and chair of its Student Recruitment Committee. She is a member of the CIC-DC and is currently chair of the Education Committee. She is a member of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association where she served as a member of its Legislative Committee and is currently serving on the Conference Committee. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Champlain College, and has been an adjunct accounting instructor at Champlain.
