Charles J (Chaz) Lavelle was selected to the Captive Review Hall of Fame, received the 2019 VCIA “Service to the Captive Industry” award, and is a lawyer in the Louisville, Kentucky Office of Dentons Bingham Greenebaum LLP. He regularly represents clients before IRS, and is a frequent speaker and writer on captive insurance topics. Chaz was outside Tax Counsel for both Humana (brother-sister) and Ocean Drilling (unrelated business) in their captive insurance victories in the U.S. Court of Appeals. Among his civic and charitable activities, he is a past Chair of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
Bruce Wright, Eversheds Sutherland
Bruce Wright is a partner at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP, and is involved in tax and insurance regulatory issues including representation of P&C insurers, formation of captives, RRGs, creation of various alternative risk mechanisms, formation of commercial offshore privately and publicly held entities and the development of structured financial products. Mr. Wright also holds the CPCU designation and speaks regularly at captive industry conferences.
